Thornton's Corners GO Station is a planned GO Transit train station to be built by Metrolinx in the community of Oshawa, Ontario, as part of the approved expansion of train service on the Lakeshore East line to Bowmanville. The station will be built at the northwest corner of the intersection of Thornton Road and an extension of Consumers Road (from Thickson Road, passing north of the Whitby campus of Durham College). Metrolinx will also lay tracks connecting the Canadian National Railway (CNR) line south of Highway 401 to the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) freight line north of the highway. Bridges will provide grade separation, carrying the tracks over the highway and the Consumers Road extension. To the east of the new station, the tracks will pass below a Thornton Road bridge and through a tunnel underneath the spur line connecting the General Motors Canada manufacturing plant to the CPR railway. The station building will be built on the south side of the tracks, with a bike shelter on its east side. An adjacent parking lot with approximately 1,525 parking spaces will have access from Thornton Road on the east and Consumers Road on the south. A bus loop and bike shelter will be built on the north side of the tracks, and will be connected to the station building by a tunnel underneath the tracks. A "Kiss and Ride" area will be included in the parking lot near the station building. In a January 2011 council meeting, Oshawa City Council carried a resolution to request that the government of the Regional Municipality of Durham amend its cycling plan to incorporate an extension of a cycling route from Gibb Street along Thornton Road south to Thornton's Corners GO Station to provide bicycle access to the station from a planned Trent University campus north of Gibb Street. It also requested the addition of a cycling route from the new station along Consumers Road west to Thickson Road to connect to Durham College and eastern Whitby. Once completed, GO Transit plans to relocate services at its existing Oshawa GO Station to this new station, which will serve the western portion of Oshawa and the eastern portion of Whitby. The parking lot will have room for expansion on land to the west. Metrolinx forecasts that the station will have 1,900 morning and evening peak passenger boardings by 2021, and about 2,900 by 2031. ==Notes== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Thornton's Corners GO Station」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
